Business ideas about electronic component or product manufacturing..?

I have been in the electronic component manufacturing and sales industry for roughly 40 years. Manufacturing has moved from the US to Mexico to Taiwan and now is mostly located in China. Unless you are planning to make custom designed products, government or medical components, the price of end products in this industry make it virtually impossible to produce competitively in small scale. You need to find a value added niche, focus on that niche and become the best at doing so. Your best way to find out if that industry exists is to either personally visit the engineering department at some small to mid-size companies and get some feed-back, advertise in an electronic journal, or try to hire some manufacturers reps who sell a variety of electronic products and have them do the legwork at the customers they currently sell to.
